Call Center Finalizing Plans for Monroe County

Woodsfield, Ohio --- Monroe County Economic Developers Lou Stein and George Couch confirmed that Safe Auto Insurance Company of Columbus has announced that will be locating an inbound call center in the Monroe County Commerce Park. On Monday, January 22, Ohio Governor Bob Taft announced that the Ohio Department of Development approved a Business Development Grant to help offset the cost of a approximately $1 million, 10,000 square foot customer service center and over $685,000 in new equipment that is expected to create 150 jobs.

“We are committed to creating new jobs in Ohio’s Appalachian communities,” Taft said, “Safe Auto’s decision is great news and I congratulate the company on its new Monroe County expansion facility.”

“Monroe County is grateful to the Governor and Ohio Department of Development for their approval of incentives for Safe Auto,” said Stein. “This project is a great opportunity for the citizens of Monroe County and fits perfectly into our short and long range plans for diversified economic development in the county.”

We have enjoyed working with Safe Auto Chairman/CEO Ari Deshe and President Jon Diamond and appreciate their confidence in us,” said Couch. “They have a impressive company that is poised for growth. We think that Monroe County will provide an exceptional work force that will meet the needs of Safe Auto and their expansion plans.”

Established in 1993, Safe Auto is one of the fastest-growing insurance providers in the United States and is licensed to market its insurance products in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Georgia and South Carolina. Safe Auto plans to expand into other markets with the opening of the Monroe County facility.

The Monroe County Commission and Monroe County Community Improvement Corporation approved on Monday resolutions, which would slightly alter the size of two lots in the Monroe County Commerce Park to facility Safe Auto’s planned facility. In addition, the Developers are working with Safe Auto to identify a temporary facility so that initial training and operations can begin prior to the opening of the new facility.

Vaughn Smith, Director of the Monroe County Office of Job and Family Services, also announced that applications for employment with Safe Auto can be completed at their office, located at 100 Home Avenue, Woodsfield.

Stein and Couch said that they have been working closely with the Ohio Department of Development, Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Monroe County Commission and other state and local agencies to put together a development package for Safe Auto. When all details of are completed they expect that a formal announcement will be made.
